As a result of the constitutional amendments made in accordance with  Law No. 6771 of 21 January 2017 and enacted by the referendum on 16 April 2017, the Republic of  Türkiye  switched its government form to presidential government system as of 09 July 2018. Following this switch, the Undersecretariat of the National Intelligence Organization  was renamed as the Directorate of the National Intelligence Organization.
