Until WWII, M.E.H/MAH was following almost all international issues, including threats in the neighbouring territories as well as the British and the French, both of whom had been occupants of Anatolia until a few years ago. One of the significant works conducted in this scope was about Hatay’s joining the homeland. MAH had been following the “Issue of Hatay” since the day of its establishment, and accelerated its efforts related to Hatay in 1936 when France granted Syria independence. In this context, MAH correctly understood the grand strategy of France during the diplomatic talks with the French, and figured out to what extent they were willing to compromise. Thus, MAH had a significant influence on the foreign and security policies of the Republic of Türkiye, and played a tremendous role in Hatay’s joining the homeland on 23 July 1939.
