After prolonged discussions at TBMM, the Draft Law on MİT was passed on 06 July 1965. As Law No. 644 on the National Intelligence Organization entered into force on  22 July 1965, the National Intelligence Organization  was officially established subordinate to the Office of the Prime Minister.
