Adnan ERSÖZ (1917 - 1991)

 

Adnan Ersöz (born 1917) graduated from the Turkish Military Academy and joined the Turkish Armed Forces in 1936. After holding various positions, he was promoted to Brigadier General in 1963. Ersöz served as Brigadier General until 1965 and as Lieutenant General between 1969 and 1973 before being promoted to Four-Star General in 1973. On 13 July 1978, one year after his retirement from the military, Ersöz became Undersecretary and resigned from his post on 19 November 1979. After the 12 September 1980 coup d’état, he became a member of the Assembly of Advisors.

Adnan Ersöz perished in an armed attack by terrorists against his residence on 13 October 1991.
