Burhanettin Bigalı (born 1927) graduated from the Turkish Military Academy and joined the Turkish Armed Forces in 1947. He held various positions until his promotion to Brigadier General in 1972. After serving as Major General in 1976-1980, Bigalı became Lieutenant General and served as Undersecretary between 7 September 1984 and 14 August 1986. He was promoted to Four-Star General in 1986 and assumed the command of the Second Army. Bigalı became Commander General of the Gendarmerie in 1988 and retired two years later.
Burhanettin Bigalı passed away on 17 September 2016.
