Emre TANER

 

Emre Taner (born 1942) graduated from the Ankara University’s School of Political Science. He joined the National Intelligence Organization in 1967 and held important positions at various levels to work on a range of issues that fall within the scope of MIT’s activities. After his service as Regional Director for Bursa, Taner served as Regional Director for Istanbul between 1984 and 1986 before becoming Head of Intelligence in 1987 and Deputy Undersecretary five years later. In 1994, Taner left Türkiye on an overseas assignment and remained abroad until his appointment as Deputy Undersecretary for Operations on 7 April 1999. Having assumed the position of Undersecretary on 15 June 2005, Taner retired on 26 May 2010.
