Hamza GURGUC (1913 - 1988)

He is a graduate of the War Academy. Following his graduation in 1933, he served at various posts under various ranks both in and outside the country, and in 1961 he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. Under this rank, he was appointed as Deputy Commander in the Headquarters of Southeast Europe Allied Ground Forces, and in 1965 he was promoted to the rank of Major General and became the 15th Corps Commander. In 1966 he served as the Executive Chief of Staff at the Ground Forces Command, and in 1967, after being appointed as Lieutenant General, he served at the CENTO Headquarters as the Turkish Military Representative. In 1968, he served as the Head of the Intelligence Department of the General Staff, and in 1969 he became the 8th Corps Commander. Then, in 1970, he was promoted to the rank of Army General and was appointed as Member of the Supreme Military Council. Later on, he became the Commander of the 3rd Army, and he retired in 1974. During the term between November 25, 1974 - July 13, 1978 he served as the Undersecretary of the National Intelligence Organization and died in 1988.
